Asmaou is a hairstylist, educator, and entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience in natural hair care, braiding, and community empowerment. She is the founder of JeRah Beauty Salon & Spa in Mississauga, where her work goes beyond beauty—focusing on restoration, confidence, and identity.

Originally from Guinea, Asmaou’s journey to Canada began as a teenager facing a life-threatening health condition. Arriving with no English and limited resources, she used hairstyling as a tool to build independence, support herself, and uplift others. What started as survival became purpose.

Asmaou is also a leader in education within the beauty industry. She was the first instructor at Braids On Call Academy, where she trained and certified women in hairstyling—equipping them with practical skills, confidence, and opportunities for financial independence.

Today, she brings that same passion into schools and communities across the Greater Toronto Area through her Hair, Culture & Confidence Workshops. Her sessions combine cultural education, hands-on learning, and real-life empowerment, teaching students the history of Black hair, self-care practices, and foundational braiding techniques.

Through her work, Asmaou creates spaces where students feel seen, valued, and confident in their identity.

She is also the creator of Boboan, a shea butter-based hair and body care line designed to support healthy, natural beauty.

As a single mother and business owner, Asmaou continues to build with purpose—using her voice, her skills, and her story to inspire confidence, independence, and legacy in the next generation.
